Hello Mums, Dads
and Beavers
We hope
you liked the Grandparent's Day cards we made this week and that they
were in good time to be handed over to Grandmas and Grandads on Sunday?
I have
written to you separately about the missing coat. Please can you help me to
find this coat? Someone MUST have it!
Billy
Beaver - did you spot him when you came in? He is our new
Colony Mascot and will go with us when we have a day out. Also, he
will help us with our Investiture Ceremony. (His photo is on the Beaver section
of the website.
Just to
give you some early notice that we will be having a Halloween Scary Nite on
31st October. By then, the clocks will have changed and it should be
sufficiently spooky for us. So, please start to plan your outfit, either
home-made or purchased. It doesn't matter which as long as everyone
enters into the spirit of it. As usual, I will provide a 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Prize for the best dressed and we will chose this at the beginning, so that any
'complicated' costumes can be taken off for the running about.
Neckers/Scarves
There
are still at least 10 scarves with no names on them. This causes a
problem at the end of the evening when we are in a hurry and trying to find out
which scarf belongs to whom.
Please
can you assist us by either sewing/ironing a name tag on the scarf or writing
on the label. It saves any unpleasantness, of which there has recently
been some and speeds up our departure at the end of the evening. Thank
you for your co-operation.
Investiture
Our
newest Beavers will be invested (our formal joining ceremony) on 7th November
and will need to have their uniform tops by then. They also need to learn
their Promise:
I Promise to do my best
To be Kind and Helpful
& to Love God
Some of
the older Beavers seemed to have forgotten this, so can you help with a little
practice now and again?
After
Half Term, we will be starting up with our Christmas Good Turn, the same
as we did last year. This is when we think of other people less fortunate
than ourselves, who won't get to have such a lovely Christmas as we will.
We will
be supporting the Food Bank and I would ask you to bring something from the
list (which I will tell you about later on) each week and place it in the box.
When
there is a Public Holiday and Statutory Services are closed, voluntary
Organisations such as The Food Bank, get a massive increase in demand as there
is no-where else from them to go.
I hope
that we can help them again this year.
That's
it for now .............. see you on Thursday
